This month we said farewell to our longest serving coach, Elisha, who, after more than 17 years of dedication to the club as Coach, Head Coach, Director of Gymnastics, Head Competition Coach, Mentor, friend, confidant, role model, the list is endless, has called time on her coaching career.
Elisha has been an integral part of the Club for many years since her time as a young gymnast through to a coach. She has been an extraordinary ambassador, through the good times and not so good. She has had many high moments over the years and one of the proudest moments for Elisha and the Club was when she won Gymnastics Ireland Club Coach of the Year in 2017, it was an incredible honour and well deserved. More recently, many of her gymnasts returned to the National competition scene after the Covid break and brought gold, silver and bronze back to Athlone once again, a very special and rewarding time for all and a fitting tribute to Elisha.
We are all so sad to see Elisha depart but would like to thank her most sincerely for all her hard work, dedication, friendship and loyalty over the years. She leaves behind a fantastic legacy, having shared her knowledge so generously with gymnasts and coaches over the years and always encouraging them to follow in her coaching footsteps. She will be greatly missed by her fellow coaches, gymnasts, Management, Committee and parents. Best of luck Elisha, we will miss you!
