Athlone Gymnastics Club

We will be in Athlone Towncentre Shopping Centre on Saturday and Sunday selling tickets for our mega Christmas Raffle – we have fantastic prizes up for grabs, the top prize of €1,000 Voucher to spend in the fabulous Center Parcs in Ballymahon (sponsored by our Club) to be used at any time you choose, dates are not restricted. What a wonderful present this would be for Christmas! As the saying goes – if you’re not in, you can’t win!

Tickets are just €5 each or 5 for €20. Pop over to us when you’re out Christmas Shopping to say ‘Hello’ and get your tickets, we can’t wait to see you.

The draw will take place on 18th December, just one week ahead of the big day itself.

We are thrilled to receive another very generous prize added to our raffle from Arcadia Athlone, located just off Junction 11 on the M6/N6, to spend in two of their fabulous stores – €50 to spend in B & Q and €50 to spend in JYSK. Arcadia is home to award winning B & Q Athlone store. B & Q is the largest retail space in the midlands with over 50,000 sq ft of retail space under one roof and a 10,000 sq ft outside Garden Centre. Open 8am-8pm Monday to Saturday and 10am-6pm on Sunday with kitchen and bathroom showrooms and for all your homewares and DIY needs.

JYSK

JYSK is a brand new Scandanavian homewares and furniture store at Arcadia. JYSK is Danish-owned and one of the largest home furnishing retailers in Europe. It’s a shop of great value and top quality furniture, garden furniture, homewares and home textiles. Open Saturday to Wednesday 10am-6pm and Thursday and Friday 10am-7pm.

We have another fantastic prize to add to our Christmas Raffle collection – €100 Voucher for Athlone Furniture World located on the Dublin Road in Athlone. This would be an amazing prize to win, with a huge selection of furniture to choose from instore.

Another fantastic prize has just been donated to us for the Christmas Raffle – 3 month Fitness Membership for the Athlone Regional Sports Centre, to include gym, pool and fitness classes. Thanks so much to Liam and the Management of Athlone RSC for this amazing prize, that sure is a great start to 2023 for some lucky winner!

Take a look at what they have to offer at Athlone RSC, all under one roof and lots more outdoors, there is definitely something for everyone, including free car parking. We are so fortunate to have this wonderful facility right here in the Midlands.

Kelly’s Cafe in Monksland have very generously donated a full breakfast for 2 people to our Christmas raffle, we are thrilled to include this as one of our prizes! Kellys are always great supporters of the Club and have donated to many of our fundraisers over the years, thank you so much Enda for this generous prize, we really appreciate your support.

Kelly’s Cafe is located only a few minutes away from our gym in the heart of Monksland Retail Centre opposite SuperValu, beside the Credit Uniton. They serve all day breakfast, lunch specials and Christmas home baking is now in stock (yum, yum!!). Opening hours are 8.30am to 5,00pm, Monday to Saturday, open Christmas Eve from 8.30am to 3.00pm, reopens in the New Year on 3rd January 2023. Tel: 090 6444004.

Why not take a break from the Christmas rush and pop in for one of their delicious treats when you’re in the area or after you drop your child off to their gymnastics class!

We are so grateful to everyone who supported our fundraiser at SuperValu in Monksland on Friday and Saturday. Thanks to all who bought tickets for the raffle or gave a donation, every cent is much appreciated.

A special word of thanks to our dedicated team of volunteers – Karin, Katie, Maggie, Ellen, Lisa, Colette, Imelda, Samantha, Sinead, Ciara, Evonne, Anne Marie, Victoria, Stephanie, Aisling, Annette, Ciara, Goretti, Kellyann, Amanda, Olivia, Lina, Eimear, Maree and Maura who gave up their time to assist with this. Volunteers are the lifeblood of the community and many clubs and organisations would not exist or function without them. They selflessly give up their time to help with events such as this and we are extremely grateful to them. We have to give a special mention to our youngest volunteer, Charlotte, she’s most definitely on the good list!

Jimmy’s Superstore have very kindly given us yet another fantastic prize to the value of €100 to spend instore, for our Christmas fundraiser.

I’m sure most of you have visited Jimmy’s since they opened their doors, which is located right next door to Smyths Toys on the Dublin Road in Athlone, but for anyone who is not familiar with them or what they sell, here is a little recap…..

Jimmy’s Superstore is a family run business established in 2009 with stores in Athlone, Ennis, Carrick-on-Shannon and Cashel.  Jimmy’s Superstore provides a wide range of products including stationery, party supplies, household items, toiletries, toys and much much more.  They have something for everyone!

We have just received yet another spectacular prize of €100 One 4 All Voucher, this can be used in hundreds of outlets nationwide, a great prize to get before Christmas! This was very generously donated to us by Hutchinson Davidson & Son, Ballinasloe, thank you so much to Elaine for this super prize.

We are delighted to receive another prize for our raffle from locally owned business, Oliver Carty & Family, based across the road in Monksland. They have very kindly donated a Gift Bag with some of their delicious products, just in time for the festive season! You can also find their products on sale in local supermarkets.

Here is a little bit of their story so far……

Ours is a story that began almost three quarters of a century ago.  At the family home in Arcadia, Athlone, Oliver cooked, dressed, weighed and wrapped his first ham and ‘The Carty Way’ was born.  Now, as then, it’s a way of doing things that not only embraces time-honoured traditions and an unmistakeable sense of Irish-ness, it also puts innovation, imagination and a passion for quality at the heart of everything we do. 

Based in Athlone, County Roscommon, our range of pork and bacon is Bord Bia Quality Assured and also includes 100% Irish turkey medallions and lardons.  At Oliver Carty & Family we source a specially selected range of pork exclusively from the Little River Pig Farm,  Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford, to create our range of bacon and rashers.   We have our own smoke-house, using only use natural woods like beech, oak and cherry and our products are cured using Irish Atlantic Sea Salt harvested on the Beara Peninsula in West Cork.
