Athlone Gymnastics Club

Last weekend saw the girls return to the National Arena to compete in the WAG National Series competition. As always, they represented themselves and their club with pride. They performed amazing routines in what was a very tough all around competiton, with huge numbers competing at each level. We are so proud of each one of them for all their hard work and commitment, especially since the full return to training.

Thanks, as always, to all the parents and families who came along and supported them on the day and who continue to support them throughout the year, they couldn’t do it without that! Hope everyone enjoyed the competition.

By now, all the gymnasts should have received a raffle card from us to sell for our Christmas Draw to be held on 18th December. If not, or if you need additional cards, please get in touch and we will be happy to supply as many as you wish! The deadline to return these cards and money is 10th December.

In addition to our top prize of €1,000 Voucher to be spent in Center Parcs, Longford, we have received a very generous donation of €100 Cash from one of our members’ parents, to be spent anywhere you choose, no doubt it will come in very handy, especially given the time of year! Thank you so much for this very kind and much appreciated donation.

We have been really busy for the past few months preparing for the WAG National Series Competition which is being held this weekend in the National Arena, the hard work is done and the time has finally arrived, we’re all super excited!

Best of luck to gymnasts – Isla, Aoibhinn, Orla, Katie, Mya, Sive, Kate, Mia, Aoibhinn, Orlaith and Nicola. Go and do your best girls and have a fabulous time representing your club. We are so proud of all you have put into this competition and your dedication to gymnastics and we can’t wait to see you perform. Thanks also to our coaching team for their hard work and commitment – Elisha, Saoirse and Tara.

Unfortunately one of our gymnasts, Keela, has had to withdraw from the competition due to an injury and we wish her a speedy recovery. She will still be supporting her fellow gymnasts all the way!

This also marks a very special weekend for us as we have 2 of our coaches – Saoirse and Tara, making their debut in judging, Good Luck girls and enjoy the experience!

For all the gymnasts, families and coaches travelling over the weekend, stay safe on the roads.

Our gym is running as normal this weekend, up to and including Sunday, 30th October.

We will take a break from regular classes next week while the Halloween Camp is running and will return again on Tuesday, 8th November.

Cards for our Christmas Raffle are now being sent home from class with your child so please keep an eye out for them! Make sure you get your name in the draw for this mega prize for Center Parcs.

If you have a valid coaching qualification and experience coaching gymnastics to children, we would love to hear from you.

You should enjoy working with children to help them reach their potential as well as being able to work as part of a coaching team in a controlled environment. Other qualities we are looking for are : energy, enthusiasm, reliability and of course a love for gymnastics.

Hours are negotiable, salary based on experience and qualification.

Applicants must currently be able to work in Ireland

We are delighted to now take bookings for a camp at the November Midterm break this year. Spaces are very limited so will be strictly on a first come basis, no holding of spaces!

Please ensure you read all the information before booking.

The Camp is as follows :-

• The Camp will run from Tuesday, 1st November to Friday, 4th November (inclusive)
• Suitable for Boys and Girls who were born before 1st January 2016 only
• Registration is open to Members and Non-Members
• No previous gymnastics experience is required to take part
• The Camp will run from Tuesday to Friday 9.30-1.00pm
• There is also the option of booking for just 2 days – Tuesday & Wednesday or Thursday & Friday from 9.30-1.00pm (no other options are available)
• Registrations and payments are only by through the link below

Please ensure that you select the correct options, as once booked, it cannot be changed.

Our Autumn Term is now underway and all our classes are full for this term. Thank you to all returning members and new members who registered, spaces were filled extremely quickly and as always, the demand far exceeded the availability.

As we receive so many enquiries about new spaces, it is not possible to reply to all the messages we receive. Can we suggest that you subscribe to our mailing list by hitting the ‘subscribe’ button on our home page so that you receive updates on spaces when available, there is no charge for doing so. We no longer keep a waiting list and available spaces are first posted on our website and are strictly on a first come basis.

Kindly note that we do not accept children under the age of 6 years for Camps or weekly classes. If there is any change to this in the future, it will be advertised on our website.

We are super excited to be starting off our new Autumn Term tomorrow (3rd September). We look forward to seeing all our members again and welcoming many new members to the Club, some for the very first time. We hope you all have lots of fun and make many new friends along the way.

Everyone should have received a text message with confirmation of the start time and date of their class, if you haven’t received this, please get in touch and we will be happy to confirm it for you so that your child doesn’t miss his/her class.
