Athlone Gymnastics Club

We are currently recruiting a full time Director of Gymnastics within our Club. 

We are an Artistic Gymnastics Club, affiliated with Gymnastics Ireland and are based in the Midlands, Ireland, just off the M6 motorway.  We currently run recreational and competitive training programs.

We are looking for someone with the following  –

• Enjoy working with children and be a good role model for both gymnasts and other coaches.
• Ability to motivate and encourage gymnasts and coaches.
• Be enthusiastic, reliable, responsible and committed to their role.
• Have a broad knowledge and experience of artistic gymnastics.
• Oversee and assess progress of both recreational and competitive class programs and ensure that the termly programs are fulfilling their aims and objectives.
• Be available to work evenings and weekends, when needed.
• Ability to demonstrate good leadership skills.
• Be able to guide and support other coaches.
• Have a recognised WAG Level 2 gymnastics qualifications with Gymnastics Ireland, British Gymnastics or similar, with a minimum 2 years experience in an advanced role.
• Be eligible to work in the EU without a work visa as we are not in a position to sponsor a visa at this time.
• Appointment is subject to Garda Vetting and satisfactory references.

This role offers a fantastic opportunity for a coach to step into a more senior position and develop the club further with the option of expanding the competitive element.  The role would require taking responsibility for supervising and the mentoring of other coaches.

We are inundated with requests from parents wishing to start their child in our Club and we are not in a position to reply to these enquiries as they are extremely time consuming. Please note that all our classes are currently full and we are, therefore, not taking in any new members at this time.

Our waiting list is also closed, if your child was added to the waiting list in November and you were offered a space which you didn’t accept at that time, your child’s name was then removed from the list, as advised on the waiting list registration form. If the waiting list reopens, it will be live on our website and will be on a first come basis. Please refrain from contacting us to add your child’s name to the waiting list as this cannot be done.

We realise that there is a huge amount of children interested in joining our club and whilst we would love to be able to offer each one a space, unfortunately, this is not possible.

For our existing members, once we receive further information from Gymnastics Ireland/Sport Ireland on returning to onsite training, we will be in touch. Please bear with us during this time. We can’t wait to see you all soon again in the gym!

We would like to take this opportunity to wish all our staff, gymnasts, their families and wider gymnastics community the very best Christmas ever and good health and happiness in 2021.

In a year that has been like no other, we are grateful for so many things, one of which is the support and kindness shown to us and our Club by parents and gymnasts, in particular since 12th March. We know it has been a tough year for many families and businesses. Safe to say, we are looking forward to putting 2020 behind us and moving into 2021 with hope and positivity in our hearts.

Our office will be closed for the next 2 weeks and any queries will be replied to once we reopen. We hope to resume classes from Tuesday, 5th January, unless otherwise advised.

Our gym will be closed from Monday, 21st December to Monday, 4th January 2021 inclusive, for the Christmas break. We hope to reopen again on Tuesday, 5th January, depending on the level of restrictions at that time.

This week is Christmas theme week and we would love if children could wear a Christmas jumper/hat/socks/hair bobbin, etc., whatever they have at home, we look forward to seeing everyone get into the festive mode!

Thank you to all who registered their child on our waiting list yesterday. We were completely blown away by the level of interest, it was well in excess of what we anticipated. We had a cut-off point and we reached it far quicker than we could ever have expected. We realise a lot of people are still disappointed but we hope to reopen the list again.
